IGN Readers Predict Assassin's Creed IV

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag was confirmed in the wee hours of the morning yesterday, following the leak earlier this week of a poster depicting cutlasses, pistols, pirate flags, tricorn hats, and a suspiciously nautical setting, and the newly released official art appears to confirm the rumors--Assassin's Creed is going pirate.

After an illustrious, mult-generational career exploring urban jungles, canals, and wilderness, how will this nautical shift affect the franchise? And, perhaps more imporantly, how do you want it to affect the franchise?

We asked you for your predictions on Twitter, and you guys really came through, with thoughts, forecasts, and requests ranging from gameplay to cosmetic touches.

Some users brought us story and setting wishes...

@ign I think it will probably be related with the pirates mentioned in the Peg Leg sidequest in #AssassinsCreed 3

— Vero (@venabre) February 28, 2013

@ign It would be cool of we could see like a Spanish (Spain) setting throughout the pirate era. I mean. The Spanish Armada?? Come on. Gold

— Stormy Chaput (@thatGuyLeDouche) February 28, 2013

@ign I just hope we don't play as Haythams father, That storyline has been exhausted! #AC4

— Ben LeStrange (@BenLeStrange) February 28, 2013

@ign I have a bad feeling this protagonist will be a Templar, because of the "prettier" hidden blade being at the right hand, like Haytham.

Other users suggested tweaks to the gameplay.

@ign female lead character as an option/ choice.

— kris(@KMaure) February 28, 2013

@ign Fully open world: the naval stuff in AC3 was reserved for missions, but I expect to see open island to island sea travel in #AC4.

— Carson Jenkins (@MrSkolVikes28) February 28, 2013

@ign If they improve on the clunky controls of the previous game and work a little on the overall story, I think it will do very well.

— Danyal Harris (@crasysab) February 28, 2013

@ign #AC4 there be much a plunderin of treasure and perhaps some more ship to ship combat

— James Lane (@angrytacoz) February 28, 2013

@ign Ship battles in multiplayer #AC4

— Kino. (@TheLifeless) February 28, 2013

And still others share a laundry list of pirate-themed touches that would give the game a suitably swashbuckling flair.

@ign #AC4 at some point in the game, SOMEONE will inquire as to the status of rum...

— Jacob Farid Bahou (@Jakx102) February 28, 2013

@ign black beard better be up in this bitch I wanna sword fight him in the misdt of a maelstorm between two giant ships!
